Baby Announcements for Hayden

I have just completed and almost finished printing baby announcements for baby Hayden. I offered to my sister-in-law to take pictures of him and then design and print his announcements.

At first the design was more colorful and had more patterns. After I took pictures and they chose the ones they liked I decided to redesign them. They seemed too cluttered and the attention was taken from the photos with all of the different patterns and colors.

I think they turned out pretty nice. He is a very cute baby. I wish they lived closer so I could hold and cuddle him more!

Family Photo Shoot

My husband has a friend who's wife (Opie) has decided to become a photographer. She is trying to build her portfolio. We have been in need of family photos for a long time so we asked her to take pictures of us.

My sister-in-law had her engagement pictures done at the Utah State Hospital in Provo, UT. They were really nice. There was some really great stone work up there. We decided this would be a great place to take our family photos.

Saturday, March 24 we headed up there to take photos. We weren't really sure what to expect, but it was awesome. There is a place behind the hospital called "Castle Park". It was created (in 1937) for hospital use. Not sure what they use it for. There are two castle like towers with old wooden doors on them. A couple of staircases. Tall walls. And a HUGE amphitheater all made of stone.

Opie took some great pictures of all of us. We also went to the park near our house and she took some of the kids playing. It was a lot of fun to do this as a family. Here is a LINK to her online gallery.

I would like to go somewhere again and do a couple photo shoot with my husband. I'd like to have more photos of the two of us. When we had engagement photos taken we didn't get many poses, it was indoors at a studio, and I wasn't extremely happy with the results. I'd love to have some fun photos of me and my husband together to celebrate our deep love and commitment to each other.

Cake Decorating

For those who know me know I LOVE to decorate cakes. Sometimes I overdue it :)
For our church's women's activity this month we were celebrating the Relief Society's birthday. The organizers of the event asked for volunteers to make and decorate cakes. Of course I volunteered. I decided to make a two layer German chocolate cake, with coconut pecan frosting for the filling between the two layers, dark chocolate frosting to cover the cake and lime green drop flowers. I had a lot of green and white frosting left so I put vines between the flowers and little white dots on some of the vines.

Sometimes I like to do things anonymously. When I got there they had name tags to put your cake by. Everyone knew I made the cake. I even got asked if I do cake decorating for hire. People were afraid to cut it because it was so beautiful. It was a pretty cake. I want to make another one....but I have to find an event that is cake worthy. My husband graduated college, that sounds cake worthy :)

Altered Metal Frame Wall Hanging

On a local morning show the other day they had someone from Making Memories who created a mini book using their metal frames. It was for spring and she put patterned paper on the back and some die cut Easter stickers. It was very cute! I decided to put my own spin on this project and put black ribbon and black paper on the back of it and paint it a green that will go well in Hayden's nursery. I intend it to be a wall hanging, but they could use it as a mini book too.

I think it turned out pretty well, I'm happy with it! I'll see if I can take a picture of it on the wall when we go to visit tomorrow.

WAHOO! I'm an AUNT!

I've never been an Aunt before! I'm the mother of two. Both my kids are the only grand kids/niece and nephew on both sides of the family. However, this morning that is no longer true! My husband's sister (my fantastic sister-in-law) gave birth this morning to a baby boy! I'm so excited and truly happy for them. His name is Hayden Derrick Jensen. He is 6lbs. 9oz. 18.5inches.

They live in Logan. We will be driving up there on Saturday to see him. I will take tons of pictures of him and post some.
